Dosing Calculator

Calculate medication and fertilizer doses for your aquarium

ml, drops, or grams

⚠️ Important Safety Information

  • Always read product instructions carefully before dosing
  • Double-check your calculations - overdosing can harm or kill fish
  • Use actual water volume, not tank size (account for substrate, decorations)
  • Remove activated carbon from filter before medicating
  • Consider sensitive species (scaleless fish, invertebrates) - may need reduced doses
  • This calculator is a tool only - always defer to product instructions and professional advice

Common Dosing Examples

Water Conditioner (Dechlorinator)

Typical: 1-2 drops per gallon or 1ml per 10 litres

Use every water change to remove chlorine/chloramine

Aquarium Salt

Typical: 1 tablespoon (15ml) per 5 gallons (19L)

For treating ich, fungus, or stress relief (not for all species)

Liquid Fertilizer (Plants)

Typical: 1-2ml per 50 litres weekly

Adjust based on plant density and growth rate

Ich Treatment

Typical: 1ml per 10 gallons (varies by product)

Follow exact instructions - usually daily treatment for 3-5 days

Dosing Best Practices

  • Measure precisely: Use syringes or pipettes for accuracy
  • Dilute first: Mix medication in a cup of tank water before adding
  • Add near filter outlet: Ensures even distribution
  • Keep records: Track what you dose and when
  • Start low: With new products, consider starting at 50-75% dose
