The African Butterfly Peacock is a striking Lake Malawi cichlid with a streamlined body, rounded fins and an expressive face. Depending on its locality and color strain, males may display intense blue across the head and body combined with orange, red or yellow fins, while females are generally silvery-brown with darker vertical markings.Like other peacock cichlids, it uses enlarged sensory pores in the lower part of its head to detect tiny movements in the substrate.
