The Albino Blue Eyed Lemon Bristlenose Pleco is a distinctive cultivated colour form of Ancistrus cirrhosus. Its body ranges from creamy white to warm lemon yellow, often with a subtle translucent quality, while the eyes have a blue-grey appearance rather than the red eyes associated with many albino fish. Like other bristlenose plecos, it has a broad flattened body, an underslung sucker mouth and a covering of small bony plates.Its most recognisable feature is the fleshy bristle growth on the face of mature males. These tentacle-like appendages are much less developed in females and give the fish its familiar bristlenose name. Although it is a bottom-dwelling catfish, it is generally peaceful and spends much of its time attached to surfaces or exploring the substrate with its sucker mouth.Ancistrus cirrhosus originates in the freshwater systems of tropical South America, where related bristlenose catfish inhabit rivers, streams and flooded forest environments.
