Blue Rili Carbon Shrimp Care Guide

The Blue Rili Carbon Shrimp is a striking selectively bred colour form of Neocaridina davidi, displaying a mosaic of deep blue, dark carbon and translucent sections across its small body. Individual patterns vary considerably, making each shrimp look slightly different.Like other Neocaridina, it has a compact, gently curved body, delicate walking legs and prominent antennae used to explore its surroundings. Females are generally larger and fuller-bodied than males, and mature females may carry a visible clutch of eggs beneath the abdomen.These shrimp are active little scavengers, constantly grazing surfaces with their specialised mouthparts and using their fanlike movements to investigate the environment. They are peaceful and spend much of their time among vegetation, hard surfaces and other sheltered areas.Neocaridina davidi originates in freshwater habitats in East Asia, where wild populations inhabit streams, ponds and slow-moving waters rich in plant matter and biofilm.
