Brilliant Rasbora Care Guide

The Brilliant Rasbora is a sleek, streamlined fish with a silvery to olive-brown body and a striking iridescent blue lateral stripe. Depending on its mood and surroundings, the stripe can appear turquoise, cobalt or almost electric, while the fins may show subtle amber, orange or reddish tones. Its elegant proportions make it one of the more eye-catching larger rasboras.This is a peaceful, active shoaling species that spends much of its time in the middle levels of the water. Groups move together through open space, with males often displaying beside one another and intensifying their colours during social interactions. Despite its active nature, it is generally non-confrontational and relies on numbers and coordinated movement for security.Rasbora einthovenii is native to parts of Southeast Asia, including the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It occurs in forest streams, peat-swamp waterways and other slow to moderately flowing habitats, where leaf litter, submerged roots and overhanging vegetation create a shaded, complex environment.
