The Emerald Rainbowfish has the deep-bodied, laterally compressed shape typical of the Glossolepis genus, with shimmering scales and translucent fins. Although sold under the name Emerald Rainbowfish, Glossolepis incisus is especially famous for the brilliant red-orange coloration that mature males can develop, while females and younger fish tend to show more subdued silver, olive, or golden tones.This is an active, peaceful schooling fish that is most impressive when kept in a group. Males display to one another by extending their fins and intensifying their colors, creating lively visual interaction without usually causing serious injury.Glossolepis incisus is native to Lake Sentani and associated waters in Papua, Indonesia.
