Golden Roseline Barb Care Guide

The Golden Roseline Barb is a striking, streamlined cyprinid with a silvery body, a vivid red stripe running from the nose toward the dorsal fin, black lateral markings and yellow-to-gold accents. The golden form is prized for its brighter yellow coloration and bold contrast, while its torpedo-shaped profile gives it a fast, athletic appearance.This active barb is generally peaceful but highly energetic, spending much of its time cruising through the middle levels in a coordinated group. It is most impressive when several individuals swim together, displaying flashes of red, black, silver and gold as they change direction.Sahyadria denisonii is native to clear, oxygen-rich streams and rivers of the Western Ghats in southern India, particularly in Kerala and Karnataka. Its natural habitats typically feature rocky or gravelly bottoms, flowing water and abundant marginal vegetation.The species has a restricted natural distribution and has faced pressure from habitat alteration and collection for the ornamental fish trade. It was formerly placed in the genus Puntius and is still widely sold under older common names such as Denison Barb and Roseline Shark.Although it is a relatively recent addition to the aquarium hobby, the Golden Roseline Barb has become popular because of its unusual colour pattern, peaceful nature and lively schooling behaviour.
