The Green Dragon Bristlenose Pleco is a distinctive colour form of Ancistrus cirrhosus, with a broad, flattened body, armour-like plates and a sucker-shaped mouth. Its greenish patterned colouring gives it a more unusual appearance than the standard brown bristlenose, while its large fins and whiskered face make it instantly recognisable.This is a generally peaceful, bottom-dwelling catfish that spends much of its time attached to solid surfaces or exploring among cover. Its mouth is adapted for rasping across wood, rocks and other surfaces, and its curious, deliberate movements make it an engaging fish to observe after dark or during subdued lighting.Ancistrus cirrhosus originates in freshwater environments of South America, where related populations inhabit streams and rivers with submerged wood, leaf litter and plentiful surface growth.
