The Longfin Lemon Pleco is a golden-yellow ornamental form of the bristlenose catfish, with a compact, armored body and dramatically extended fins. Its colour can range from pale lemon to rich yellow, often contrasting with darker eyes and subtle patterning on the fins. Like other longfin varieties, its flowing finnage gives it a particularly elegant appearance.This species is a peaceful, largely nocturnal or crepuscular bottom dweller. It uses its sucker-shaped mouth to cling to solid surfaces and rasp at algae, biofilm and other natural growth, while its broad head and armored plates provide protection. Mature males develop the characteristic bristles on the snout that give bristlenose catfish their common name.Ancistrus cirrhosus originates in the freshwater habitats of South America, where related populations inhabit rivers, streams and flooded forest environments.
