Platinum White Neon Care Guide

The Platinum White Neon is a pale colour form of the familiar Neon Tetra, with a silvery-white body and the species’ characteristic electric blue and red markings showing with varying intensity. Its reflective appearance gives it a soft, luminous quality that makes a group especially eye-catching.Like other Neon Tetras, it is a peaceful, active schooling fish that spends most of its time in the middle regions of the water column. Groups move together in loose formation, periodically scattering and regrouping as they explore their surroundings.The wild form, Paracheirodon innesi, originates from the clear and blackwater tributaries of the upper Amazon basin in South America, particularly in areas of Peru, Colombia and western Brazil. These habitats are typically shaded by dense rainforest, with subdued light, leaf litter and slowly moving water.Neon Tetras became popular in the aquarium hobby during the twentieth century and remain among the best-known tropical freshwater fish. The Platinum White Neon represents the ornamental development of this classic species while retaining its small size, peaceful nature and distinctive schooling behaviour.
