The Purple Harlequin Rasbora is a colourful cultivated form of the classic Harlequin Rasbora, with a compact, laterally compressed body and a rich purple, violet or wine-toned sheen. Its most recognisable feature is the bold dark triangular patch on the rear half of the body, set against warm coppery or pinkish colouration.This is a peaceful, active schooling fish that becomes most impressive when moving together in a coordinated group. Individuals often cruise through the middle levels of the aquarium, displaying subtle social interactions and brighter colours when they feel secure or when males are competing for attention.In nature, Trigonostigma heteromorpha comes from slow-moving forest streams, peat-influenced waters and swampy habitats of Southeast Asia, particularly parts of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and nearby regions.
