The Tiger Endler is a striking selectively bred form of Poecilia wingei, displaying the compact body and energetic character of Endler's livebearers. Males are especially colorful, often combining orange, yellow, black and metallic blue markings in a tiger-like pattern, while females are larger and more subdued in appearance.These fish are active, peaceful and constantly exploring their surroundings. Males frequently display their colors and court females, producing a lively presence despite their tiny size. Like other livebearers, they give birth to free-swimming young rather than laying adhesive eggs.Poecilia wingei originates from coastal freshwater habitats in northeastern Venezuela, including lagoons, pools and slow-moving waters associated with the Campoma and Cumana regions. These environments can be warm, richly vegetated and variable in water chemistry.The species became popular through the work of John Endler and subsequent aquarium breeding programs.
